Either Mahathir is stupid or he thinks we are all stupid?
I have never wanted to call Mahathir stupid… but the alternative would means we are all stupid.

How in the world that anyone can PROOF his innocence by swearing?

Actually TDM is not stupid. mubahalah is a matter which involves man’s relation with his God, where one party swears that he is willing to accept God’s punishment if he is lying, and the recipient has to accept that challenge, whereby he also swears he is willing to accept retribution from God if in fact the first party was truthful while he was lying. Obviously, there is no way both can be true but the recourse is to God’s. I think you misunderstood this entire affair or have been receiving religious islamic guidance from only one side and that, a politically motivated group. Saiful doesn’t swear he is innocent, it is more like he is swearing that if he is in fact lying, then may God punish him, and all he wants is for Anwar to do the same. I see no reason Anwar should not do it since he is innocent, i.e. Swear that he accepts God’s punishment if he was lying. It would only take a few moments, may even save the country a lot of anxiety, and in one fell swoop, immediately make every BN allegation and slur complete nonsense. Why? Because it shows he is a man of courage and a true leader who considers the interests of the nation above his own personal needs. Isn’t that who he is? Plus, once he does this, then for Muslims any negative court decision re: his sodomy case is rendered immaterial since Anwar has taken this step to prove he was not lying.
Prolonging this matter i.e. not accepting the challenge is wasting time which he could be using more effectively to become the next PM, and will remain a question mark forever in the minds of Muslims in Malaysia. Like it or not, there are a fair number of Muslims who don’t support PR and they will keep using this to beat Anwar with even when he becomes PM. Why not just cut this particular problem at the root and be done with it? That would be the most statesman like action he could do right now to convince all Muslims he is unafraid and in the right.
Hai zahar – just giving you corrections – mubahalah is a swear or method between husband and wife where if there any argument of either party does Zina. In Anwar case, both men and who is represent as wife or husband. The real method is suppose to go under qazaf. Infact you can read more about this thru internet. Its not the matter of Anwar doesnot swear but it’s not following the islamic concepts.
